Will Disney+ channel coming to Unifi TV?

Hello Unifi TV Community Team, as we know that all Disney Channels will cease transmission starting 1 January 2021, and Disney+ will soon coming to Malaysia, will Unifi TV take this channel?

Re: Will Disney+ channel coming to Unifi TV?

First of all, Disney+ is an OTT service like Netflix and BBC Player. Unifi can partner with Disney to allow the subscribers to include it as part of the monthly bill like Dimsum or include it as part of the Ultimate Pack.

Second, your question could be "can Unifi TV bring in Disney Channel HD and Disney Junior HD" since both channels will leave Astro soon. Both channels will stay in Asia region as the Asian TV providers are the ones to decide whether they want to continue carrying the channels or just partner for the OTT app (either included into the package or ala-carte).

Some of you may find shocking that it's the TV providers in Singapore that drop Disney channels instead of Disney Southeast Asia. After the launch of Disney+ Hotstar in Indonesia, both Disney channels continue to broadcast in the country, which has proven my previous point regarding the TV providers' decision.

Why do Astro and Singapore TV providers decide to drop Disney channels? Price. Always the price that we're talking about. Comparing to Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, Disney Channel is the most expensive kids channel in Asia due to its amount of licensed content (and it's the only kids channel in Asia that airs movies every day). Why would they keep the channels if they can offer the app instead? For your info, the price of licensing a live-TV channel is way expensive compared to licensing the OTT app. 👍😃

That's why Indonesia still have this channels... Hope someday any provider can bring back this channel in malaysia. Maybe Unifi or other exist tv provider.
