Good morning folks! How are you doing since the lockdown?
Are you being bored at home and don’t know what to do? During this is season, embrace and treasure the time together with your families. For those who work from home, every day is family day for you. Yahoo!
Actually, there are a lot of activities that we can enjoy with our family. Take this opportunity like a family vacation at home. We have time to love our homes and our family by doing things together to improve our homes and bond with our children. Below is a list of things we can do at home.
Activities with our family: Board Games. A fun time to play and connect with our children any time of the day. Depending on your child's age, there are lots of options for fun and interactive board games. If you don’t have one, just order online.
Family Jam Session. Pick an instrument each and have a time of singing together. You can also do "home karaoke" online with your friends too (smule, jamkazam, etc). Just turn the music on and sing all your heart out!
Video Production. Shoot a home video with your family. Get everyone involved in video or movie production. Enjoy the process, keep it light and simple. For example, send a video greeting to the grandparents. You can also try to produce a short film. Make it fun too. Watch it together and send the video to friends and family.
Movie Time. Enjoy movies with the family and share your favourite movies together. Create your own home theatre if you want too... haha .
Gardening. Now is an excellent time to learn how to grow herbs and vegetables. Are images of empty store shelves giving you anxiety? How could they not? The good news is that almost anyone can grow herbs and vegetables, whether you have a small balcony or rolling acres. And, by planting produce, you save money, conserve energy resources, reconnect with the earth and help teach your children where food actually comes from. Here are some tips to consider before sowing the first seed or digging the first hole.
Read a Book Together. Find a good book to read as a family. It can be a biography, short stories, productive or motivating book. Read and interact a page a day or a chapter a day. The National Library of Malaysia is offering e-books, just log in and pick a book of your choice to read.
Cleaning and decluttering with Marie Kondo’s Cleaning Method.
Clutter can trigger the release of the stress hormone cortisol, which can increase tension and anxiety and lead to unhealthy habits, so why not reduce clutter and anxiety in one swoop? Marie Kondo’s principles — which she calls the KonMari Method — doesn’t adhere to a “less is more” philosophy but instead encourages the keeping of items, as long as they spark joy. She says, “In my home, I’m surrounded by my favourite things, including 15 pairs of chopstick rests.” Learn about the KonMari Method in four simple steps here.
Cleaning and Disinfecting. What better time to clean up the house! Wash curtains, cushions and linens. Wash toilets, showers and bathrooms. Deep-clean bedrooms and disinfect commonly used areas in the home.
Car Wash Day. On a good sunny day, take some time to clean up the interior and exterior of the car and wash your car—a good family activity.
Home Gym. Time to stay fit and workout together. Do simple exercises that do not require gym gear. If you’re bored doing exercise alone, go zoom or skype do exercising online together with your buddy that would be fun.
Activities for Mom with Daughter: Facial and spa at home. Put on a mask take selfies together if you want too. Enjoy facial time or spa time with a hot cup of tea! Medicure Pedicure. Bring out the colours and give yourselves a treat! Desserts. Bake cakes or cookies and invite the rest of the family to a tea party.
Activities for Dad with Son: Home gym. If you are into sports and fitness, enjoy a friendly body workout competition. Game time. Chess, table tennis (if you have), board games or video games. BBQ. Boys time to cook dinner.
Have fun and enjoy your time together as family. :)
